The 8" size has softened metal arms that bend and cut to fit art objects. - The top and bottom bars are made of 1/16” softened metal. The upright is made of 1/8” metal and would usually need pliers to bend.
The 12" size is not softened, and the upright is 1/4" and the crossbars are 1/8".
They are mounted in .5”H acrylic, either clear or semi flat black, and can be purchased separate from a base.
The added bottom cross bar can be used to help float an object off of the base, help keep the bottom of an object from moving out, or just to increase stability. They are not glued into the base (some are in tighter then others), so height adjustments can be made by carefully removing them and cutting them down. The post of the larger one would need a hack saw or bolt cutters to cut. Also, it may be easier in some instances to work with the armature when it is not in the base. The armature may need to be re-painted if the paint comes off when bending and handling. *Note: Avoid putting pressure on soldered joints when bending.
Sometimes a standard size just isn't right. You might want a larger armature or a smaller armature, or maybe you need a stronger upright or a more delicate upright. Whatever your need we can customize or custom build an armature for you.
