Artifact display T-arms are fantastic options for displaying small sculptures. We designed these small t-arms to be easy to work with and to provide the highest level of artifact safety.
The metal display armature is removable from the base to that it can be worked with free of the base or so that its’ height can be cut down with Linesman’s pliers or a small hack saw.
The base is cast acrylic and is available clear or painted black. Bases are available in a variety of sizes so that you can select a base that fits your artwork the best, all bases are ½ Inch thick.
The smaller sizes have the soft metal "T" arm that bends and cut to fit art objects. - The top bars are made of 1/16” softened metal. The upright is made of 1/8” metal and would usually need pliers to bend.
They are mounted in .5”H acrylic, either clear or semi flat black. They are not glued into the base (some are in tighter then others), so height adjustments can be made by carefully removing them and cutting them down. Also it may be easier in some instances to work with the armature when it is not in the base.
There are also 12"H T-arms available but they are more rigid, so they are harder to bend but will support more weight.
*Note: Avoid putting pressure on soldered joints when bending.
See our You Tube video on using T-arms here
Common tools we suggest having available include:
Needle nose pliers In a variety of sizes
Large pliers such as Linesmans Pliers
Large wire snippers for trimming the arms to length
A hack saw to shorten the post if desired. (remove from base very carefully as this junction can be very tight and removing the post can damage the base)
Flat black touch up paint for the base or armature
Shrink Tube to pad the artwork from the armature (and a heat source to shrink the tubing at the end of forming the armature)
Sometimes a standard size just isn't right. You might want a larger armature or a smaller armature, or maybe you need a stronger upright or a more delicate upright. Whatever your need we can customize or custom build an armature for you.
